Seize the opportunity
Thursday, March 03rd, 2005 | Author: kevin

When I started this journey back at the PR Venture Capital Forum in 2003, I never knew I would get the best advice for an entrepreneur, right from the beginning. The keynote speaker was Fernando Espuelas, founder of Starmedia Networks. In his speech he stressed the importance of an entrepreneur having Eternal Optimism. I have come to understand why he stressed this point. Further, in the depths of my fear, self-doubt, and self-pity I have reminded myself of this fact, repeatedly. It has given me some solace in my times of need and allowed me to pull myself back to the computer and get back to work.

So now, I have a new opportunity set before me. I got the approval today to attend the Open Source Business Conference in San Fran, Califronia. Geoffery Moore, Lawrence Lessig, Kim Polese, and this time I won’t let Tim O’Reilly go without introducing myself. So now it is really on, x-cito has to be tight before take off.

But wait a minute, I have a little dilemma to solve. I now have three blogs to maintain while I’m there. I have yours truly, SNAP, and O’Reilly. Good problem to have, got 2 git biz zee.

Well it’s a start

I made some progress on the blogroll. I also found that one of my favorite professors was still teaching back at Hood College. So I dropped him a line.

I hope the list grows, I’m sure it will. There are a few gaping holes (like PJ’s blog), and I’ve just thought of a few more as I typed this. It is a little discouraging that my list is not longer, but I can’t help it that more people don’t have sites or blogs. Oh yeah, which reminds me of something else, note to self. Get out more often! Mingle, talk it up. “Why are you here?”

With a little help
Wednesday, March 02nd, 2005 | Author: kevin

Well it’s been interesting working through the affiliate approval process. Actually it was relatively painless, at first I had these fears that my meager site would be found unworthy. But no, as long as your not carrying content disagreeable with the company, it may be just as easy as asking. X-cito is living proof. Well not yet, but before OSBC, it MUST be.

One down, Three more to add

Completed:

  1. Received affiliate approval for Amazon, Google and iTunes

Add to list:

  1. Research affiliate link information
  2. Add iTunes affiliate links to page
  3. Add Amazon affiliate links to page

Rick Ross of the JavaLobby realized his worst nightmare recently. He checked the Javalobby.org - Sun Java, JSP and J2EE technology programming forums, software downloads, jobs and tutorials ranking in Google and discovered that they werelow in the Google page ranking. I have great respect for the community he has built there, so I’m answering his call and I’ve added a link to JavaLobby. Here’s hoping that every little bit helps. Anyway, we’ll be asking for their support at SNAP very soon, so we had better play nice.
